Who can use the service?

You can apply for rehousing online by registering and completing the online housing register application form. You will be given a six digit login reference and asked to provide a memorable date for your online login. You can set this to a date of your choice.

What additional information is required with my housing register application?

You will need to provide additional information with your application;

  • Proof of your current address
  • Proof of your National Insurance Number
  • Photo identification if you have it, if you don’t have photo ID  another form of ID will be needed
  • Proof of Child benefit with your children details if applicable
  • Confirmation of your local connection to the Select Move area
  • Proof of employment in Preston, South Ribble or Chorley if applicable
  • Validation of information supplied from the Border and Immigration Agency if applicable
  • A landlord reference if applicable
  • Your service record if you have served in the Armed Forces
  • 5 Year address history

Your application will remain inactive and you will not be able to bid until we receive this information. If you do not supply this within 28 days your application will not be registered.

Some applicants are eligible but do not qualify to join the housing register. Examples are If you have

  • Been evicted from a Select Move partners property
  • Have outstanding housing related debt over £1,000
  • Have outstanding housing related debt of £999 or less and you have not maintained an agreed payment plan to bring the debt under £500
  • Own or have a financial interest and/or have transferred ownership of a property but have continuing rights to reside in a property unless your housing needs can only be met by Social Housing
  • Have savings/assets over £30,000 or a gross annual income of over £60,000
  • Have any antisocial behaviour/poor tenancy conduct – individual circumstances will be considered
  • Have been rehoused within the last 12 months into one of our properties and have no priority reason to move
  • Do not have a local connection with the Select Move area
  • Are a current tenant of a partner and have housing related debts

If any of the above applies to you, you still may be able to join the Open Property Register

 

Who cannot use the service?

You cannot use this service if you have not completed an application form and been accepted onto the housing register.

There are also some people who will not by law be eligible to join the housing register. These are:

  • Certain people who are subject to Immigration Control under the 1996 Asylum and Immigration Act
  • Certain people from abroad who are not subject to immigration control but who are not habitually resident in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland

Non Qualifying

Some circumstances may result in you not qualifying to join the register. These may apply if you :

  • Have outstanding housing related debt over £1,000
  • Have outstanding housing related debt of £999.99 or less and you have not maintained an agreed payment plan to bring the debt under £500.
  • Own or have a financial interest and/or have transferred ownership of a property but have continuing rights to reside in a property unless your housing needs can only be met by Social Housing
  • Have savings/assets over £30,000 or a gross annual income of over £60,000
  • Have any antisocial behaviour/poor tenancy conduct – individual circumstances will be considered
  • Have been rehoused within the last 12 months into one of our properties and have no priority reason to move
